🎯 Day Four: Picking the Right Model for Your Task
👋 Welcome to Day Four!
Today we're going to talk about picking the right model for your task.
🤖 My Go-To Model: ChatGPT o3
Just to begin—my go-to model is ChatGPT-o3.
And when I say that, I usually get a little bit of confusion.
😄 The funny thing is, even though the number is lower, o3 is in fact the better model in many cases. It reasons step by step and is a lot slower—it can take up to two minutes to respond.
But if you're in a place where having a little more thinking power makes a difference, o3 is going to shine. ✨
⚡ When to Use GPT-4o
ChatGPT-4o is great for speed.
Across all models, one advantage to those who pay for ChatGPT is that it also has a great memory of your past interactions 🧠.
This becomes increasingly powerful—and increasingly important—over time.
🧑🎓 When to Use Other Models
📝 Claude:
Think of Claude as a really gentle English major with a range of skills
It’s more open-ended, good at verbalizing thoughts, and a lot better at writing than the slightly dorkier ChatGPT.
But because it doesn’t have internet access, I prefer not to use it.🔍 Perplexity.ai:
This is the best replacement for a search engine.
It’s really good at current events and backing up facts, so you avoid hallucination issues that hurt other LLMs.📚 Notebook LM (by Google):
If you’re looking to learn something, nothing beats Notebook LM.
I don’t like their usual AI tool (Gemini), but Notebook LM is special.
It only quotes from the facts you give it, can use a wide range of sources, and helps you synthesize and understand across tons of different data, even allowing you to create podcasts if you are an audio learner. 🔬🧠
